Research on a New Drag Force Model for Cylindrical Particles in Fixed Bed Reactors

نویسندگان

چکیده

Fixed bed reactors play an important role in converting solid wastes to high-quality products. The wastes, as well the corresponding catalysts, are often made into cylindrical particles. However, research on drag force for particles is still rarely reported. In this work, fixed porosity was firstly predicted with unresolved CFD-DEM method and validated against experimental data. Then, Ergun model, Di Felice Ganser model were evaluated reported pressure drop data both spherical particles, so that a more theory could be selected candidate Finally, new proposed particle prediction based results by other It found that, bed, relative errors of approximately 10%, while those 15%. For much higher than 10%. With maximum error between can lowered 5%. reference value selection when simulating similar FBRs

New model for performance prediction in fixed-bed reactors based on the approach of the unused bed zone.

In the present study a practical model useful for designers dealing with pilot scale reactors for pollutant control has been developed. Investigations were undertaken for a single-component lead study on New Zealand clinoptilolite at the temperature of 25+/-1 degrees C. Fifteen runs under different operating conditions such as particle characteristics (expressed as d*(p)/D), column geometry (as...

A Numerical Model for Trickle Bed Reactors

Trickle bed reactors are governed by equations of flow in porous media such as Darcy’s law and the conservation of mass. Our numerical method for solving these equations is based on a total-velocity splitting, sequential formulation which leads to an implicit pressure equation and a semi-implicit mass conservation equation. We use high-resolution finite-difference methods to discretize these eq...

Analytical Solution to a Model for the Startup Period of Fixed-bed Reactors

A mathematical model for the startup period of a fixed-bed reactor with first-order reaction kinetics, axial dispersion and film mass transfer resistance was formulated and solved analytically using Laplace transform. The solution can be used to correlate or predict the reactant concentration profiles in the effluent of the reactor. The effects of both the Peclet number and Biot number on the e...
